Code K9 is a family run dog training business with over 20 years of canine handler and dog training experience.

Code K9 is committed to enhancing the relationship between owners and dogs through structure, communication, consistency and a healthy environment that benefits both the dog and the owner.  A well-trained dog is happier and more emotionally stable. Training provides freedom, bonding, and opportunities that enhance the relationship between owners and dogs. 

Code K9 is an approved American Kennel Club (AKC) Evaluator and a member of the International Association Canine Professionals.

Additional Certifications include: Canine First Responder First Aid, Search and Rescue, and SAR Tech II.

As an approved American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, Code K9 is approved to adminstor the offical tests/evaluations for:

  • AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy® — The entry-level puppy program (for puppies up to about 1 year old). Evaluators conduct the assessment at the end of a required multi-week class, verifying socialization, training basics, activity, and responsible ownership behaviors.

  • Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) — The core 10-skill test for good manners in everyday situations (e.g., accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely, walking on a loose leash, reaction to distractions, supervised separation).

  • AKC Community CanineSM (CGCA) — The advanced, "real-world" version of CGC, tested in public settings (e.g., dog-friendly outdoor areas).

  • AKC Urban CGC (CGCU) — Focuses on urban environment skills (e.g., navigating crowds, elevators, traffic).

  • AKC Trick Dog titles (including virtual options) — Evaluators review videos or in-person performances of tricks at various levels (Novice to Elite).

  • AKC Virtual Home Manners (VHM) — A virtual/home-based evaluation for basic manners.
